The CPL Solo TWIN is our circularly polarized luminescence spectrometer which supports direct, exact, and easy CPL acquisition 350-1700 nm.

The “TWIN” moniker identifies it as a single sample compartment unit with both UV/Vis and NIR emission channels. Neither acquisition mode knows about the other; they exist together, but entirely independently.

Specifications for each of the stand-alone models hold on this TWIN version.

This sample holder is the Polarization Toolbox, a large chamber we created for ease in position the polarizer and PEM in either of the two locations, between the sample at either the UV/Vis or the NIR emission monochromator and detector.

The optimized hardware and proprietary software collects CPL without use of a lock-in amplifier and without G-factor corrections. Acquisition of LUM(L), LUM(R), linearly polarized light, non-polarized light, circularly polarized light, and total emission are collected and displayed simultaneously.

No other CPL is capable of this exact separation of signals for uncontaminated calculation of gLUM.

Emission hardware includes two compact high-throughput single grating OLIS monochromators, one with UV/VIS blazed grating and both with adjustable slits. Detection for the NIR is done by an exquisitely sensitive Hamamatsu NIR PMT detector (the ‘Majesty’) and a photon counting detector for the UV/VIS region. Each emission channel has a dedicated photoelastic modular, polarizer, and lens. There is no need to move hardware between use of the UV/Vis emission channel (350-800 nm) and the NIR emission channel (800-1700 nm). (The option to move a single PEM between experiments is an easy way to reduce the price slightly.)

The absolute stability of the direct, digital OLIS method greatly enhances the likelihood of successful results over long or short acquisition periods. 2D and 3D data analysis is supported by seamlessly streaming data into GlobalWorks. Data analysis includes 2D and 3D data manipulation (smoothing, derivatives, exponentials, subtraction, etc.) as well as kinetic fits; Data storage is as binary, ASCII, Excel, and JPG.

The default sample holder is a 1 cm2 cuvette. Many labs choose other sample holders including a single or four position QNW Peltier assembly, the OLIS computer-controlled Variable Angle Thin Film holder, OLIS 1.4T permanent magnet, or third party cryostat (each accessory sold separately).
